Week Four

Design inspired by leaves of ferns/ exotic plants aligned in a grid form which is plastered all over the domain winter gardens in the form of glass in the glass houses, trellis which the plants grow up connected to the pergola, the pattern in the leaves.

The Parallel lines moving upward in a diagonal represent the geometry of the trellis which is along the courtyard in the winter gardens and in the grains of the leave themselves. The criss crosses pattern symbolise the fish which was food source originally in the swamps of the land, the shape of the ferns. The integration between the two diagonal is the inclusivity of the multicultural all represented in the site through the exotic plants.

This pattern is mainly inspired by the trellis grid and the circular shapes found in the glass houses.

Playing with traditional patterns inspiring the walkway to have either an engraved pattern or pieces of timber which create a pattern. Perhaps moving away from the more traditional patterns into modern patterns which tell a story. The story of nature, multicultural inclusivity and modernism.
